This has been one of my favorite paintings from the moment I finished it. There is something magical about this piece for me. The colors and textures. The way it all came together for me. The simplicity of the phoenix bird. It feels timeless to me. It feels like it has always been this one cohesive whole. Like I gave birth to it all at once. Most pieces evolve in a different way and it is hard to know when they are done and there is generally some guesswork involved. But this one just arrived and I fell instantly in love. I hope whoever adopts my fiery feathered friend finds a powerful kind of renewal in this canvas. A mythical rebirth.
